Authenticity and Appraisal

Avoid the fake.

Authenticity matters especially for high-value items.
Purchases from official shops are safe, but you may want extra protection when buying from secondhand stores.

Lunarcat is not capable of performing in-house appraisal services.
However, you can still go through the appraisal route when purchasing from Mercari, Yahoo Auctions, and Rakuten Rakuma.

How Appraisal Works

Appraisal is available when both conditions are met:

  • The item falls within the platform’s eligible category.
  • The seller turns on the appraisal option for the listing.

Request to opt in for the appraisal. This can be done using the order form’s comment section.

* If the appraisal is free, we will apply for appraisal unless you indicate to opt out.

After purchase, the item is shipped to the appraisal center.

The item is appraised.

Pass: No issues. The item is shipped to our office.*

* We will not provide separate notifications for positive appraisal results.

Fail: Lunarcat refunds you the item cost and all associated fees for that item.

We will contact you if an issue is found and the item is refunded.

Mercari

Appraisals are handled by a professional appraisal partner SNKRDUNK, which reports an appraisal accuracy rate of 99.97%.

Fashion & accessories ¥4,300
Trading cards ¥1,700 per card

* Waived for sneakers and fashion items over ¥100,000, and for trading cards over ¥150,000.
