Are there any specialty items you cannot handle?

We cannot handle actual firearms, flammable items (perfumes and nail polish), lithium-ion batteries, or items prohibited by Japanese export laws. However, we're happy to research unusual requests and will always let you know if something is possible before you commit to an order.

Special Categories

Not all items can be shipped overseas. Lunarcat can deal with many item categories that other proxies refuse, but there are limits to what we can process due to laws and courier regulations.
Below is a realistic overview of categories that often cause issues.

Impossible to Ship

Medicines

第1/2/3類医薬品 and 医薬部外品 require special compliance for retail. Lunarcat does not support any purchase or shipping for these items.

We can still purchase the item if:

Item is sent domestically or picked up
Someone hand-carries it on a flight

Perfumes and Other Flammable Substances

Perfumes are considered dangerous goods (DG) because they are flammable. To ship DG, couriers often require a Safety Data Sheet (SDS), which is typically not provided to consumers. Therefore, we cannot ship perfumes internationally.

This category also includes:
- Paint pens
- Alcohol-based cosmetics (nail polish, hair tonic, sprays)
- Fireworks
Cigarettes

We do not support international shipping of cigarettes due to legal and regulatory restrictions.
Alcohol

An alcohol export license is required to ship alcoholic beverages overseas. We do not currently support international shipping of alcohol.
Gases of Any Kind

Cannot be shipped due to safety regulations.

Conditional

Items containing batteries

With Japan Post, batteries including Nickel-cadmium, Button Cell, or AA/AAA batteries can be shipped if certain conditions are met. If removing the battery solves the problem, we can do so.

FedEx allows shipping batteries. Lunarcat is able to ship batteries which do not fall under the Dangerous Goods category.

Airsoft Guns

Replica weapons and model guns can be shipped using Japan Post.
Please check your country’s import laws and regulations before ordering. A lot of countries have heavy regulations for weaponlike products.
Furs and Animal Products

Not all animal products can be exported (for example, it is illegal to export Ivory).
However, items made from certain animal materials are exportable with special documentation under CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species).

If the item requires a CITES export permit, Lunarcat can handle the export documentation (¥3,000 online permit fee applies).

However, you are responsible for obtaining any necessary import permits required by your country’s customs authority. Please verify your country’s CITES regulations before ordering such items. If this is difficult, we would be happy to search it for you.
Supplements / Health Foods

Supplements sold as health products (健康食品 / サプリメント) can be shipped. Please also check your country’s import regulations.

Possible to Ship

Lunarcat classifies these items as “special categories”. Customers are not allowed to complete customs declarations for any item that falls under this category.

Toy Weapons

If not properly documented, toy weapons can be returned or confiscated by customs as “weapons”.
Lighters

Lighters must be disassembled and sanitized. A sanitary certificate may also be necessary.

We charge ¥2,000 for disassembly, sanitization, and obtaining the certificate.
Non-flammable Liquids and Cosmetics

Non-flammable liquids and most cosmetics do not require special documentation. They just need to be packed well.
Adult Content

Customs in many countries are very strict on this category.

For adult content, Lunarcat is not liable for any incident that may happen after shipping.
