Airsoft

Airsoft is a delicate category since it resembles weapons.
Proper documentation and understanding of local laws is crucial to deliver guns.
Lunarcat is about one of the only businesses in Japan that specializes in delivery of airsoft items internationally.

Shipping

Airsoft guns can be shipped with Japan Post only.
Parts can be shipped with other couriers if not shaped like a weapon.

Gas

Magazines: Gas must be emptied out before shipping.
Gas cans: Cannot be shipped. These must be disposed.

Battery

Battery items can be shipped only if the requirements meet Japan Post rules.

Alkaline cell: needs short-circuit prevention measures.
Alkaline / manganese dry battery: no regulation.
Air battery: the post office will determine eligibility based on the Safety Data Sheet.
Lead battery: cannot be shipped.
Li-ion / Li-po: must be attached to a device and cannot be shipped as loose batteries.
Nickel-cadmium: no regulation.
Nickel-hydrogen: no regulation.
Solar cell: no regulation.

Country Eligibility

Japan has a firing power limit of 0.98J.
All guns from Japanese manufacturers will adhere to this law.
Assuming this condition is met, guns can be exported to the following countries.

* It is not a good idea to purchase airsoft manufactured by non-Japanese manufacturers.

Country-Specific Requirements

Brazil

A CII import certificate is required.

Canada

Airsoft guns must fire 366~500 fps (1.24~2.32J) using 0.2g BB.
Weirdly, anything below this is considered as prohibited.
This is far over the Japanese power limit of 0.98J.

Germany

Guns up to 0.5J are treated as toys and can be imported without special procedures.
Guns between 0.5~7.5J are treated as free firearms. They must be single fire mode and require an F mark (F in a pentagon).
The F mark can be added only by an official German testing authority (Beschussamt) or a licensed German importer.

Italy

The barrel tip must be painted for at least 3cm.

Netherlands

An NABV membership is required.

Portugal

An IPDJ membership is required.
For long replicas (60cm~ overall length and 30cm~ barrel length), 10cm of the barrel and 100% of the stock must be painted.
For short replicas (~60cm overall length or ~30cm barrel length), 5cm of the barrel and 100% of the grip must be painted.

South Korea

The firing power must be below 0.2J.

Spain

A Weapon Card is required to import airsoft replicas.
These cards can be obtained at the town hall from the age of 14.
Each card allows the import of up to six airsoft replicas, and multiple cards can be obtained.

Switzerland

A declaration provided by FEDPOL is required.

Turkey

An import permit approved by the local Governor Police Directorate is required.

United Kingdom

Airsoft guns are classified as IF (Imitation Firearm), or RIF (Realistic Imitation Firearm).
Guns that look like a toy (IF) can be imported by anyone.
Guns that are indistinguishable in appearance from a real firearm (RIF), can be imported by those with a UKARA membership. This is regardless of functionality.

United States

Specific markings are required for airsoft guns shipped to the United States.
An Airsoft Compliance Fee (¥2,000, US/Italy only) is charged for airsoft guns that need modification.
We check whether the airsoft gun will pass US customs and modify it if necessary. This includes:
(a) Taping the muzzle and grip to display an orange marker of at least 5mm.
(b) Hiding trademarks with black tape.
We will refund the item price if the airsoft gun is seized during customs.
We will also cover the extra shipping cost if the airsoft gun is refused and returned to the shipper.

Parts and Accessories

Parts and accessories are easier to ship than guns.
Especially, parts that do not resemble a weapon can be declared as parts for recreational equipment.

Still, be careful if you are trying to ship an airsoft part to a country marked X.

The customer is responsible for confirming local import rules before ordering.

If the item is returned to Japan, you are responsible for any return shipping costs and reshipping costs unless our buyer protection applies.

If the item is seized by customs, we will provide compensation if and only if the airsoft compliance fee was charged (¥2,000 per gun, US/Italy only).
