What UKARA Is and What It Is For

UKARA stands for the United Kingdom Airsoft Retailers Association. It is used by UK airsoft retailers to verify that a buyer is a registered airsoft player and is eligible to buy a realistic imitation firearm.

For many UK players, UKARA is the standard practical route for buying a RIF.

How to Get UKARA

Player registration is free. You must be over 18 years of age, live within the UK and be able to provide identification such as Passport, Drivers License or Bank Statement.

• Take part in three games at the same UKARA registered game site.
• Print the offline PDF application form from the UKARA website.
• Get a stamp on the application form after playing each game.
• For stamping purposes, the third game must be 56 days or more after the first.

Make sure the site you play at is a UKARA-registered site.
UKARA provides a list of approved game sites.

What UKARA Does

UKARA gives retailers a practical way to confirm that a customer can purchase RIF (realistic imitation firearms).

• What is an RIF? See the UK Airsoft Law guide.
• In order to buy alcohol, you need to show your ID to prove that you are over 18 years old.
  UKARA serves a similar purpose.

If you want a realistic looking airsoft gun, you must have a UKARA membership.
Otherwise, you have access to only the two-tone toy guns that does not look realistic.

Does this mean that I can carry my RIF on the public?

No. A RIF should only be used on private land and out of public view, or at an airsoft business.
Be careful to use a proper case to cover the gun when traveling. You may get in trouble if caught by the police.
